Shalani Todo Suporta kay Willie

(SPOT.ph) Willie Revillame’s supporters including co-host Shalani Soledad staged a protest in front of the office of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) yesterday that coincided with the board’s meeting related to the controversial “Jan-Jan on Willing Willie” incident, reports PEP.ph.

Members of Revillame’s fan club and his co-hosts Sugar Mercado, Aimee Hart and Baby Saya were among those who attended the rally. Present at the MTRCB meeting were representatives from the Commission on Human Rights, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment, and other non-government organizations.

At the MTRCB meeting yesterday, child psychologist Ma. Lourdes “Honey” Carandang reiterated what she said before that the boy in the middle of the controversy, six-year-old Jan-Jan Suan, was a victim of “emotional abuse,” reports PEP.ph. “Hindi lang siya in-abuse na ‘masama ang ginawa sa akin,’ kinomplicate pa ng pera. ‘Binigyan ako ng pera, dapat masaya ako.'” (“The P10,000 cash prize complicated matters. It was like the child was forced to be happy because he was given money.”)

According to PEP.ph, Wil Productions earlier expressed dismay over the DSWD’s decision to hire the services of Carandang because they said she already concluded the case was a form of child abuse “without either seeing or interviewing the child… or the parents.” However, Carandang said she is only involved in the case because of the child, and not because of Revillame, TV5 or any other network.

Citing Aksyon, PEP.ph reports that the Willing Willie camp will appear before the MTRCB Hearing and Adjudication Committee on April 19.

On Monday, those who opposed the Willing Willie incident also staged a protest in front of the office of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas to ask the organization to permanently cancel the show that is currently on hiatus.
