Katrina Paula, Maria Aragon among Google’s fastest rising newsmakers

MANILA, Philippines – Former sexy starlet Katrina Paula, Filipina-Canadian Maria Aragon and Deutsche Bank stockbroker Len Lopez have made it to Google.com.ph’s list of fastest rising newsmakers, data gathered by the search engine from February 25 to March 3 showed.

Filipino netizens have shown keen interest in the police manhunt for Paula as the starlet was the week’s top newsmaker on Google.com.ph, data showed.

Paula is the live-in partner of carjacking suspect Raymond Dominguez. She is suspected to be involved in the killing of car dealer Venson Evangelista in January.

News about President Benigno Aquino III dating Lopez was not far behind.

Actress Angel Aquino’s break-up with television personality Lui Villaruz, meanwhile, was the top newsmaker in entertainment news.
It was followed by Aragon performing a duet with Lady Gaga during the pop star’s concert in Toronto.

Aragon, a 10-year-old Filipino-Canadian, became known for her rendition of Lady Gaga’s recent hit, “Born This Way,” on YouTube.

The cover “overjoyed” the international superstar so much that the two even had a duet at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada Thursday night (Friday morning in Manila).

Earlier, Gaga also posted Aragon’s video on her official Twitter account and described the young Fil-Canadian as “the future.”

Aragon’s YouTube video has been viewed almost 19 million times since.

Other fastest rising newsmakers were Fil-Am American Idol contestant Clint Jun Gamboa performing Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” during the top 24 performances; chef Erwan Heussaff giving actress and girlfriend Anne Curtis a piece of jewelry for her 26th birthday; and “127 Hours” star James Franco hosting the 2011 Academy Awards with “Love and Other Drugs” star Anne Hathaway.
